What is ShelfTrack?

ShelfTrack is a completely private, offline-first personal inventory tracker. It's designed to help you organize products, tools, pantry items, or any belongings into Categories and Sub-categories.

Unlike traditional web apps, ShelfTrack stores all your data locally on your device. No accounts, no cloud sync, no tracking. Your inventory is 100% yours.

Install as an App (PWA)

You can install ShelfTrack directly to your phone's home screen. Once installed, it works completely offline and runs in full-screen mode like a native app.

iPhone (iOS)
  1. Open ShelfTrack in the Safari browser.
  2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Tap Add in the top right corner.
Android
  1. Open ShelfTrack in the Chrome browser.
  2. Tap the three dots menu in the top right corner.
  3. Tap "Add to Home screen" or "Install app".
  4. Follow the prompt to add the icon.

How to Use ShelfTrack

1. Organization Structure

Your inventory is grouped into three levels:

  • Categories: The top level (e.g., "Pantry", "Garage", "Office").
  • Sub-categories: Folders within a category (e.g., "Spices", "Hand Tools").
  • Products: The actual items you are tracking.
2. Tracking Status

Every product has a simple checkbox. Checking the box marks the item as "Finished" (crossing it out). Unchecking it marks it as "In Use". Use this to quickly see what you've run out of.

3. Backups & Exporting Data

Since your data lives on your phone, it's highly recommended to back it up periodically.

  • Internal Backups: The app automatically creates a local snapshot before major actions (like deleting all data). You can also manually view and restore backups from the "Backups" menu.
  • Export Data (JSON): From the main menu, click Export Data to download a .json file to your device's file system. This is the ultimate backup—you can email this file to yourself or load it onto another phone using the Import Data button.
